Screen shot from Heart of the Matter, Owl Puppet by Vivian Larkins

It is the start of a new month and with it comes revived focus and energy to zero in on some animation for "Heart of the Matter". Today I had a fun time working with Vivian's owl puppet. A few days ago I made ten sets of wings in the same color and texture as her owl. Each set is in a slightly different position, so when photographed, create a full cycle of wings flapping. When I edit the movie I can take the sequence and repeat it several times so it will look like the owl is flying through the air. I also animated the owl presenting its sharing object. My goal is to complete all of the artists animations this week and send the film into the lab no later than Monday.

Saturday will be the first day of the four week Documentary Film Course I am taking online. I still do not have a subject chosen yet. The teacher sent out an email yesterday sugesting we think about what story we want to tell and choose and event in town that is happening on the weekend of the 13th/14th. We will be doing the filming portion of the class that weekend. Then he asked us to choose a person to be the main character of our story. It is an interesting way to conceive a documentry, to think of it as a story I want to tell. I am pushing to get the film sent out as soon as possible just incase it makes sence to use some portion of that content for the course.
