Today’s creative process took the form of writing and reading with a splash of drawing. I did not meet my four hour goal but thats very okay with me. I think I needed a down day today.
Last night, I discovered a new way of bringing in human and animal forms into the geometric drawings. The above image and the bird below are some samples. I have old books with images of woodcuts. I traced the picture and painted another book page and drew the person/bird on top of the resurface book page. I like the effect. It works better for me rather than collaging the cut out character directly from the book onto the geometric drawing. I seems important that the figures show some presence of my hand work. I am not sure what the people and bird represent to me other than it makes for an interesting compositions. I would like to play around with this method for a bit and then do the same process but with people in more meaningful scenarios, reflecting my current journey of introspection. The last image is a little stop motion puppet made out of pieces of wood cut images from old books. It is photographed on top of a drawing from a few days ago. They look like they are from the same world.
