Today was the first day of begining film photography and this is the Lumen print I made. The first image is befor the "fixer". The second is after. The "fixer" is a chemical that stops the paper from being sensitive to light. If not used the image would continue to be exposed and eventually turn black I suppose.

I used an Icelandic poppy and a night blooming cereus given to me by Annette. The cereus bloom lasts for only one night, opening at dusk and closing by moring. The blue, turning to purple is a unique effect. The dried cereus must have a distinct ph that caused this to happen. All of the other images created in class stayed in the color range of the poppy.

I like the teacher and think I will learn alot in this class. For example, this exersize showed quite clearly emulsion exposed to light will turn black. Areas with no light exposure will be white and there is a range inbetween. This is why the negative looks the way it does. It probably seems obvious to you but with my disxexic brain it was hard for me to realy grasp and now I have a physical experience of the effect and it is sticking....making sence to me.
