I had a helpful meeting with my experimental documentry teacher. In a nut shell he did not understand what I was trying to convey and we talked through some ideas of what would support my intended storyline. I have two new goals I hope to pull off by Saturday.
Create animated sequences to fill in where the narrative gets lost. The above shot is an example of how animaion might help clarify. It was not clear to him that the feet were starting to bleed from the pain of walking on the rocks. This aspect is central to the story and needs to be understood. The sequence above will show feet walking on sharp points and drips of blood falling down to the bottom of the frame. I hope to work on the animation portions tomorrow. It is daunting because drawing is so hard for me, but I just have to do it anyway!!!
Film some scenes of Judy in Big Basin. The teacher thought it would be helpful to see Judy at least one time in the burnt forest to help intergrate the two story lines. Fortunatly I was able to head out there today with my mom. We filmed her walking through the woods and did a re-do puddle shot at Big Basin, rather than Nicene. The footage came out great. She did awesome but her dress got wet and she had to ride home with my wool scarf tied around her waist.
Lastly, Nick helped me this morning shoot the red and white bags floating, extremely slowly, down the creek.
All in all a good day and geez I hope I can go into low gear tomorrow and plug away at the animation.
