Spotted Towhee (Pipilo maculatus)?
Spotted Towhee (Pipilo maculatus)?

Today I sat with Ziggy Rendler Bregman in her studio and had a wonderful conversation about her her life and art practice. I feel so greatful for this opertunity to listen and learn from her. She is full of wisdom, life experiences and is a wonderful storyteller. She expressed so much and I kept thinking to myself, how am I going to sit with seven women, for an hour each, and distill what they say down to one minute per person? Seems like each artist should have a whole documentry about them. The editing process will be challenging.

I was able to ask my essential question, focusing on the "Heart of the Matter". She was able to zero in quickly on her central theme.

Ziggy's husband Jessy asked if I would like his 8mm camera. Sure! It is a cute little Bell and Howell model One 9 - 8mm. It is very manageable and easy to use. Now I am thinking rather than have the artist direct me to shoot something with the Bolex, I will load this little cammera and ask them to shoot 25' of film of whatever they wish. I can just leave it with them for a week or so. I am not able to do this with the Bolex because the operation of the camera will be too complicated for most of the artists. I will use the 16mm Bolex for the animation.

At this point I do not have any photos to share with you, related to the interviews. Instead I will post a photographs of birds that visits the birdbath in the garden while writing this blog.
