Day Sixteen: Frustration, Determination

Frustration!!!

I tried to record some sounds today for Metanoia.  Geez it was brutal.  I have no sound engineering skills mixed with lots of opinions about what I do not like.  I became desperate and took out my bendier, a wooden frame drum.  It has a snare (strings the back of the skin) so when it is struck, it buzzes.  I tapped, slapped and buzzed and it sounded so terrible.

I did record about 10 minutes of a heart beat I found on the internet.  That’s it. Everything else was scrapped.

Determination!!! A bit of hope and an new wave of determination came after I watched Girl Chewing Gum by John Smith.  The film was fantastic and the sounds of the city, the alarm ringing, the silence and natural ambiance gave me a new way of thinking about sound for this video.  Skip music, just focus on ambient sounds fitting with the title, Metanoia.

I made a 24x17 heart mono print today to add to the heart vulva Metanoia birth sequence.  If all else fails I will just do sound for the birth scene only.  I will start small, learn and apply the learning.

Lastly Success!!!  Today I was able to make the Canon camera work with the Dragon Frame app.  So pleased!

Oooh and the mind map was fun.  Its cool to see all the things I have made and explored over the past two years.  It all fits together. Happy about that and looking forward to flushing out more info from this map to uncover what my thesis topic will be.
