Last summer at Julies birthday retreat I reconnected with Melanie Hoopes, someone I met briefly in my early 20’s. Since Julie's gathering we have stayed in touch and I have learned in addition to being incredibly funny, she is an accomplished writer, director, musician and performer. Last fall I asked Melanie if she would collaborate with me on an animation project. She agreed, offered a few of her short stories and we settled on one titled, Playing in Cars. I presented the video I made with my cousin Mary and suggested we follow a similar creative process. I explained how the puppets were constructed and invited her to design the main characters in the story. Melanie set up a board on Pinterest where we will post images and ideas for the overall feel, color, and mood of the story. Today I spent a good amount of time looking at images on the site. I am learning one needs to partake in moderation when engaging with Pinterest. I could really get lost in there.
A short amount of time was spent on the spiral, and again the measurements were not accurate enough. I'm reading a book titled, The beginners Guide to Constructing the Universe by By Michael S. Schneider. It presents mathematical archetypes. "In this book you will find something that cannot be obtained elsewhere, a complete introduction to the geometric code of nature, written and illustrated by the most perceptive of its modern investigators."
-- From the book's Preface by John Michell
Lastly I worked a bit on the music/sound animation. The red bags and hearts are making another debut.
