This morning our Santa Cruz art group met for coffee and a treat at Andrea’s house. I continue to enjoy seeing their work and hearing what motivates showing up to create. Eight women artists in their 50’s 60’,70’s 80’s and 90’s. Incredible. They have so much life experience, wisdom, gratitude, freedom, and hold similar questions today. What to do with this precious time? Is promoting/showing the work important? How to respond to the devastating political climate and human suffering, family, illnesses, grandchildren? How to express oneself in the most truthful way. Restraint…..
After the critique group I headed to the Abbey for an avocado toast and wished my friend Jenni sat across from me.
I sat again for meditation. Seems effortless right now. I have had periods when it is a struggle. Maybe the art and yoga practice the past several years has increased my ability to be still. Today the image of Anandamayi Ma came to my mind so when I finished the meditation I tried to paint the memory.
