Abstraction

Today ws a long one. Wednesday are going to be this way for a few months because of the De Anza classes and long commute. I need to remember to pack a lunch and tea to help stabelize. I feel wiped out. I sat down for ten minutes this eving to be able to say, "I met my goal of posting some words and a picture for the month of January" ..And that is what you see above. I pulled out an old mono-print from last year and began drwaing into it with gouache and stabillo pencil. My goal was to just stick with abstraction and let go of the narrative and the figure for awhile. I was inspired by a short video Andrea shared about Philip Guston, a painter "who re-visits themes from the past, interrupts his own "style and process", and creates new bodies of works" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IDbovOp_0zA
It was a good practice of letting go. I think this will be my focus for the workshop. I will bring unfinished work and make abstractions; hold off on the narrative and figures. I love a good goal, if you haven't alreay noticed. Night!
