The prompt this week is a piece of music by Kronos Quartet and a reflection on the composition written by our instructor.

I have entered a process with the music. I plan to document the experience of listening to the music three times. The first pass is a blindfold drawing, using two hands and two pencils, responding to the music. The second unfolding will be a time lapse of just the two hands as they draw during the blindfold process. And the final exploration will be a stop motion of just the paper as it changes during the drawing/listening process (not blindfolded)
Today I did part one. The drawing on the left (above) is what it looked like when I took off the blindfold. The image on the right is what it looks like after I added some water and gouache paint.
After the music exercise I started another drawing. The sequence below shows its evolution. I was not happy with how it looked so I tried to wash it off at the end.
The remainder of the day was spent trying to draw an oval using a ruler and a compass. After four attempts I still could not figure out how it was done. At one point I started to wonder what the hell am I doing with my day. Why am I spending my time drawing a oval? Life is so strange.
I think I may be responding to so much scary stuff in the news, the corruption, damage, and and plans for war to distract attention. Drawing the perfect oval, or trying to come close to it, is a search for something real and in my control.
