Hiking!

I hiked at Grant Ranch Park today. It was so beautiful! During the hike I was thinking about black and white photography and tried to construct compositions in my mind. I didnt know where to begin or how to see monocrome in such a bright colorful setting. Tonight I began reading some beginner info on the internet and aparently it comes down to light and shadow. The image above would be fairly uninteresting in black and white because there is very little shadow and the light is, for the most part, even. It will be fun to take the photography class which begins next Wednesday. I'm looking forward to learing something new.
Below is another sketch of the chanterelles. (The soup turned out yummy!) The middle one is the original. The others have a filter.
